Official Obituary of
James E. Blackburn, III
(AKA: JIMBO, LITTLE JIM)
October 9, 1983 ~ October 20, 2016 (age 33)
After suffering anoxic brain injury due to natural causes, Jim departed this world and entered the presence of The Lord. His last hours, surrounded by family, friends and prayer, were a testament to how many lives he touched. None so much as his precious daughter, Eliana Mackenzie (Ellie) Blackburn, who remained by his side, along with her mother, Jodi L. Blackburn, and Rebecca L. Norman, Jim’s longtime girlfriend, love of his life and mother of Frankie and Victoria Phillips-Cortez.
Also left behind to cherish his memory are parents, James E. Blackburn, Jr. and wife Cheri, Bengie A. Lindsey and husband Richard; siblings, Crystal G. Blackburn, Anthony and Jason Osborne and stepsiblings, Kenneth W. Rice, Jr. and Ashleigh Rice; nieces and nephews, Kayla D. Lindsey, Esequiel J. (EJ) Navarrete, Clarence and Brandon Meadows and Meadow Rice-Meola. Although too many to list, he also leaves behind very close and loving extended family, special friends, coworkers, his four fur babies and the special crew he spent many, many years running with, Dave Pennington, Vincent Powers, David Powers and Dan Diehl.
Preceding him in death and waiting to greet him as he crossed into heaven were his special niece, Aaliyah D. Boyer, Aunt Karen Dugger, Uncles Mark and Adam Blackburn, grandparents, and a host of family members and friends.
Next to being an amazing and devoted father to Ellie, Jim was an amazingly talented and extremely intelligent young man. We will all miss his humor, his enthusiasm for the Eagle’s, his ability to challenge others on any number of subjects and, maybe most of all, his ability to serve and meet all of our technological needs! Ever thinking of others, Jim’s last mission here, a desire he made abundantly clear to all who knew him, was his gift of life to others through organ donation.
John 15:13 “Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” Truly, Jim is that man.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Thursday October 27, 2016 from 6-8pm and on Friday October 28, 2016 from 11 to 11:50am at the Bible Evangelical Church of Kennett Square, 500 E. Cypress Street, Kennett Square, PA. His service will follow at 12 noon. Interment will be in Union Hill Cemetery in Kennett Square, PA.
Family and friends are invited to dress casual and wear their best Eagle’s attire!
Flowers are welcome, but for those who prefer, donations to The Gift of Life, 401 North 3rd Street, Philadelphia PA 19123 or The Ronald McDonald House of Delaware, 1901 Rockland Road, Wilmington, DE 19803
